Physical Description: The Fitzgerald Ranch Conservation Bank is located west of the intersection of Highway 88 and Liberty Road in San Joaquin County.

Habitat Types: The Preserve is comprised of low sloping to flat rangeland that is crossed by a seasonal creek and dotted with over 500 vernal pools. Oak trees are scattered throughout easement. The biological values of the Fitzgerald Ranch are maintained by the continuing grazing program.

Conservation Purpose: The Conservation Bank was established in September 1999 under a Conservation Bank Project Agreement between the FWS and the Lane Family Trust for the preservation of vernal pool habitats. The Preserve provides habitat for the Federally Threatened California tiger salamander (Ambystoma californiense), the Federally Endangered vernal pool tadpole shrimp (Lepidurus packardi), and the Federally Threatened vernal pool fairy shrimp (Branchinecta lynchi), as well as, the western spadefoot toad (Spea hammondii), a species of special concern.
