Physical Description: The Arroyo Seco Mitigation Bank is a vernal pool mitigation bank located about 10 miles south of Sacramento near the intersection of Excelsior Road and Florin Road in Sacramento County.

Habitat Types: The Preserve is comprised of annual grassland, vernal pools, and swales. The Preserve is comprised of approximately 32 acres of vernal pools. Intermittent swales occur in the drainage-ways.
Conservation Purpose: The Preserve was established in 1998 to preserve vernal pools and associated upland habitats. The approximately 240 acre bank is owned and managed by Conservation Resources, LLC (El Dorado, CA). The vernal pools provide habitat for the Federally Endangered vernal pool tadpole shrimp (Lepidurus packardi) and the Federally Threatened vernal pool fairy shrimp (Branchinecta lynchi). The Center was granted conservation easements between August 1998 and November 2000. The Center monitors for easement and management plan compliance. Cattle grazing is used to reduce the thatch, control noxious weeds, reduce the risk of grassland fire, and enhance the vernal pool plant and invertebrate communities.
