Physical Description:
The Encinas Creek Habitat Conservation Area (also known as North County Habitat Bank) is located along Palomar Airport Road, between the Costco and Hidden Valley Road, in the City of Carlsbad, California. The property is approximately 19 acres bordering Encinas Creek.
Habitat Types and Sensitive Species:
The conservation area primarily supports southern willow scrub, but also includes some coastal sage scrub. It supports sensitive two animal species, the coastal California gnatcatcher and the least Bell’s vireo.
Management:
Management is primarily focused removing nonnative plant species and surveys of sensitive species.
Formation and History:
The property was set aside in 2008 as the North County Habitat Bank, a mitigation bank selling wetlands mitigation credits.
