Habitat Types: The Preserve contains both wetland and riparian habitats. The managed wetland units provide a combination of moist-soil wetlands that provide forage for migratory waterbirds and semi-permanent wetlands that provide year-round wetland habitat for resident birds.
Conservation Purpose: The conservation values include wetland and riparian habitats that provide habitat for wintering and migrating songbirds, waterfowl, and shorebirds. The seasonal wetlands exhibit varying pond bottom topography to provide a diversity of water depths and habitat for a diverse plant and aquatic invertebrate community. The restored riparian habitats within and adjacent to the Preserve include arroyo, sandbar, and black willows, western sycamore, Fremont cottonwood, valley oak, California buttonbush, blue elderberry, and wild grape.
